Read permission on Windows (XP SP2 and Vista)

 In some circumstance (e.g. SaadaDB creation, Web deployment...) you can get a fatal error message saying the a directory as no read access. You change the read permission on the properties of that directory, but this action has no effect. The phenomena has often been observed on the directory C:\Documents and Settings\usernamel\Local Settings\Temp.

  • Open a file explorer
  • Open tools->Folder Options->display
  • Check display hidden files and folders
  • Select the forbiden folder with the explorer
  • Open tools->Folder Options->display
  • Uncheck simple file sharing (in the bottom)
  • Right click on it to open the properties window.
  • Select the Security
  • Allow users involved by Saada running (postres, saada user and Tomcact) to to read the directory
