Instrument Field of View Prototype

Supervisor: François Bonnarel (ObAS-CDS) in collaboration with M. Louys (ObAS-CDS) and L. Michel (ObAS-SSC)

Both Aladin Desktop and AladinLite are able to overplot instrument footprints over sky images. This feature, very important for the observation setup, has been developed in the last decade upon an ad-hoc model based on Group and UTypes. This exchange format is only known by the Aladin tools; it is not really documented anyway.

It has been decided in 2022 to move toward an interoperable solution based on VO-DML and MIVOT:

• VODML: VOStandard serialization format for the datamodels
• MIVOT (Mode Instance in VOtables): Syntax proposal for mapping VOTable data on VO-DML compliant models

The project has 3 main components

• A FoV model protyped for the project. The VODML serialization

• A JS footprint editor able to grapically build footprints and to export them as annotated VOTables

• A patched version of AladinLite enable to read edited footprints
